Christmas Tree Festival
Saturday 2nd December and Sunday 3rd December 2023
“The Church never looked so beautiful!”, said an overwhelmed mother with her two very excited children after visiting the very first All Saints Christmas Tree Festival in 2012. The Festival has gone from strength to strength ever since.
Every year around the first or second weekend in December, around 50 cleverly designed and decorated trees are brought into this wonderful medieval building.
The trees represent clubs and organisations, businesses and individuals. There is no theme and each tree shows the skills and preoccupations of the those bringing the tree. Thus, we have had trees decorated with miniature shoes, or made from CD’s, or more elaborate constructions of bell mechanisms and spanners welded to an exhaust system! Anything is possible and year on year the invention goes.
On the Saturday of the Festival there is a magnificent Christmas Craft Fair in the Christian Centre, with gifts, cards and decoration galore. So, we urge people to save some of their present shopping until then. We also cater for the inner being with refreshments being served on both days.
Children will enjoy making tree decorations in the children’s corner or following a trail in the church yard. Last year they had to find 10 ‘rockin’ robins’. What will it be this year?
As the trees come into the church it is extraordinary how the whole place takes on a sparkle. There is a magic that takes over as we celebrate the wonderful gift to the world of the Jesus Christ.
